Educators engage in professional learning.
As I become apart of the teaching profession I understand the importance of being a lifelong learner. I am committed to this and will always strive to take advantage of any opportunities for me to expand my knowledge and experiences.

Today I had the amazing opportunity to take part in a professional development day at Nusdeh Yoh Elementary. As a outsider I always believed that NID’s or Pro-D Days were just days for teachers to do research on their computer. I was not aware of the learning opportunities that are proved and can be created. So, to be apart of this was an eye opening experience for me.
At Nusdeh Yoh the admin gave the staff the opportunity to join together to research, discuss and create a SEL plan to be effective as of September 2023. In this, I learned more than I had expected. For example, I learned different online programs that are available for schools and I learned the pros and cons of many of them which I feel ultimately benefited my learning that I can take forward with me when I have my own class.
I truly believe that Professional Development Days are vital for teachers. I will always strive to further my education in and outside of the school setting. But I do believe providing the opportunity, time and resources for teachers to further their education, creates more opportunity for deeper learning through dialogue, more opportunity to create and develop professional relationships within the workplace, more opportunity to get creative, and ultimately more opportunity to benefit our students in their learning.
I am looking forward to continuing developing my education and this page as I make my way through the program and take part in more Professional Development Days.
