Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interest.
I believe that this standard is apart of the foundation for all education. Educators have the responsibility to care and value the whole student. Meaning the intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual well-being. It is important for an educator to foster and create a safe and welcoming environment where students are able to successfully learn and grow into who they are. I believe achieving a safe environment is only possible when it is built on communication, connection, acceptance and respect. In order for students to feel accepted, they have to feel accepted for who they truly are. It is through getting to know their individual, strengths, weaknesses, interests, talents, dreams, fears, and anything they wish to share, we learn who each of our students truly are. I value ensuring the safety and well being of all students. I believe that every student deserves to feel valued, important and I believe that every student should be educated according to their individual needs.
As a teacher, I will always strive to
- create my classroom inclusive of all cultures so each individual can feel comfortable and a sense of belonging.
- foster a safe, inclusive, engaging, welcoming classroom environment.
- always be aware of the whole child (intellectual, physical, mental, spiritual) and make sure the child knows they are supported in every aspect of who they are.
- utilize opportunities involving outdoor education to connect my students to the outdoor classroom.
- ensure that my students feel heard and valued.
- embrace all my students individual strengths.
